The 3 best things to focus on to write content that converts

Copywriting Epiphanies

Whether you love creating content or hate creating content, it’s a big part of running a business online.

If you fall into the latter category, I’m willing to bet it’s because of one of 3 things:

  1. You don’t have the time to create it
  2. Your content doesn’t seem to cause your dream clients to flock to your DMs
  3. Your brain goes blank whenever you sit down to write it

Or maybe it’s a combination of all three.

The problem is, even if you hate it, you know how much of an impact good content can have on your business because you’ve seen it work for other businesses.

So if creating content just hasn’t been doing it for you or your audience lately and you’re ready for your content to start converting, here are 3 things you need to focus on.

1) Your wider marketing strategy

A big mistake I often see when people create their content is that they create it in isolation. They see it as something separate from their wider business marketing.

But the best content is always created in alignment with everything else going on in your business!

This is why it’s so important to plan not only your content but also your goals/launches in advance. This way, you can plan your content around any sales targets you have or new offers. This gives you time to warm up your audience so they are excited to buy whenever you’re ready to start selling actively.

And if you aren’t planning a launch any time soon, it means you can tailor each content type (blogs, emails, captions) to complement each other and feed people through your evergreen sales funnels to maximise your conversion potential!

 2) The awareness level of your audience

I have good news and bad news when it comes to your audience…

The bad news is that only 3% of your audience is ready to buy at any given time.

The good news is that once you understand the psychology behind how aware your audience is, you can start significantly increasing the percentage of people who are ready to buy from you!

There are 5 levels of awareness: Unaware, problem aware, solution aware, product aware and most aware.

For people to buy they need to be in the product or most aware phase (but that’s only 3% of your audience). So if your conversions are low, you need to start talking directly to people in the first 3 stages of awareness and move them up the awareness levels until they reach the final two levels!

I teach you exactly how to do this for free in my freebie ‘How to halve your content creation time while doubling its impact’ which you can download here!

3) Building connections

Connection is SO important when it comes to making sales through your content.

There are thousands of people creating content and just as many businesses offering similar, if not the same, services as you so one of the best ways to stand out and sell, is by building connections.

76% of people will buy from a brand they feel connected to over a competitor.

That’s a huge percentage so you need to be prioritising connection!

Plus, forming genuine connections with your audience through sharing your story and relating to your ideal clients will help ensure you’re attracting the right type of clients. The type of clients who fit perfectly into your offer and business.

If thinking about all of this, planning, writing and editing all of your content still feels like too much to think about when you have 101 other things on your to-do list and clients to prioritise, I’m here to help!
